Celebrate Music With The Laguna Community Concert Band
Upcoming Performances
OUR STORY
In 1999, over a cup of coffee at Zinc Café, the Laguna Beach Community Concert Band was formed when flutist Theresa Marino, local conductor Dr. Bill Nicholls and Laguna Beach Arts Commission member and musician Carol Reynolds brought it to life.
Beginning as an eight-member class at the Laguna Beach Recreation Department, today this thriving non-profit boasts 65+ members. Our talented players come from all backgrounds — from educators, to professional musicians, to hobbyists — all who love the joy of music and a want to share that with the public.
The rapid growth of the band owes much of its success to the Laguna Beach Community at large and to the significant contributions of the early band members. Attracting local talent, and directed by Mark Lowery and Pete Fournier, the Laguna Concert Band now performs several concerts per year at venues including the Laguna Beach Festival of Arts, The Laguna Playhouse, Sawdust Festival, Fête de la Musique, The Artists Theatre, Patriots Day Parade, Hospitality Night, and the popular Memorial Day concert at Main Beach.
The band’s creative environment has inspired smaller ensembles including a full 18-piece swing band, a flute ensemble led by Pacific Symphony Principal Flutist Cindy Ellis, a dixieland band, a woodwind ensemble and a brass quintet.
The Laguna Community Concert Band is your community band. For bookings, please contact Theresa Marino.
